September Letter from Pastor Tamara J.K. Keen
Dear Friends in Christ,
It is fall and fall often equates with stewardship in the church. In former years when society was mostly agricultural, it was the time of year when the har-vest was finished and compensation for those goods allowed giving to the church to occur. Thus, the stewardship emphasis at this time of year. Even the assigned Sunday texts echo themes of stewardship! So it is of no surprise that the ministry of Good Shepherd Church and our call to serve God is placed before us. It is at this time of year that we purposefully and collectively reflect upon our gifts in time, talent and tithe and return to God our blessings.
I invite you to prayerfully consider ways in which you might grow in the generous giving of your self, your time and your possessions. I also ask you to in-vite me to do the same.
Your contributions honor God. Your giving permits the life and ministry of this congregation to exist . In serving God and in reaching out to others with the Good News of Jesus Christ, he is honored.
Giving and growth are connected. We grow spiritually as we look beyond ourselves and look more deeply at our relationship with God. In God we know how truly blessed we are. We are blessed to be a blessing.
Enclosed in this newsletter is an intent to give card. Please fill it out, prayerfully considering what you are able to give to the ministry of Good Shep-herd Church. If you are even able to increase your support by 1% annually it would make a big difference in our ability to serve the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On Sunday, October 16, your cards will be collected and placed in the offering plate for consecration.
Know that your contributions in time, talent and tithe are greatly appreciated.
Pastor Tamara
